Prior to their induction last January 27, 2012, the ACPACI’s new set of Board of Directors and Committee Chairpersons convened to hold a strategic planning session on January 21, 2012, at the Filipiniana-themed rest house of ACPACI Executive Director Ms. Winnie Cuico in Silang, Cavite. The session was spearheaded by ACPACI incoming President, Ms. Rebecca R. Arago. She presented ACPACI’s Calendar of events for 2012 and her platforms during her term to the group. Also, several items were discussed and concluded during the session; the Professional Development Committee headed by its incoming Director Ms. Connie O. Cadelina presented to the officers the list of proposed topics for the 2012 seminars and the proposed speakers to be invited in those seminars. Incoming Director, Ms. Celerina M. Valencia, talked about the proposed beneficiaries and her projects for the Social Involvement Committee. Ms. Nanette N. Tabuac, together with the ACPACI officers, discussed about the expectations and desired outputs of the Web site and Publications Committee such as the updating of and the proposed changes in the ACPACI website, the committee’s involvement in the Annual Convention, the frequency of the issuance of the ACPACI newsletter and the redux of ACPACI brochure. The brochure was last updated in 1993. Ms. Feliciana B. Santos and Mr. Rodolfo O. Nablo, Membership Development Director and Committee Chairperson respectively, presented their game plan for their committee like writing to the Human Resource Department of the different companies to invite their CPAs to join ACPACI and getting referrals from various sources. They also requested to revisit the ACPACI website and pointed out the items there that had to be urgently updated such as the 2012 membership fee (from P1, 000 to P1, 500), the Be an ACPACI Member icon, and the downloadable application form. The 2011 ACPACI President, Ms. Ma. Paz V. Malubay, incoming Director on Meetings, Mr. Meynard M. Mendoza, and Ms. Edna L. Constantino, Secretary and Election & Scholarships Director and Fritz Ortiz, ACPACI Secretariat, were also present during the planning session and shared their invaluable inputs. Ms. Cuico played an affable host for the ACPACI team. At lunch time, scrumptious dishes were served such as nilagang isda, relyenong bangus, pork liempo, and fried chicken. During merienda, the group enjoyed puto, pancit and lumpia plus bottomless coffee and buco juice. Ms. Guico’s rest house looked pretty enough to be featured in Good Housekeeping and Real Living magazines. The one-day planning session ended on a happy note: the officers had an opportunity to bond together, and in their hearts and minds they knew that ACPACI was in capable hands.
