SEARCH FOR MOST OUTSTANDING ACCOUNTING STUDENT

More recognition!
The Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce & Industry (ACPACI) and Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), in cooperation with Philippine Duplicators, Inc. (exclusive concessionaire for Gestetner) held the final competition for the nationwide Search for the Most Outstanding Accounting Student in Century Ballroom, Century Park Hotel last December 11, 2008. This year’s competition has become more exciting as it challenged not just the academic intelligence of the participating students but also their wit, creativity, strategic ability, practicality & business prowess.
The event that ran from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. was joined by seven (7) competing teams for the team category, and 21 students for the individual category. A business case was given to each contestant, to which they had to prepare and present sound business solutions and recommendations. Their presentation will be judged based on executive summary, substance, communication skills, plausibility of implementation, and creativity. The competition was held to recognize excellent Accounting students and continuously encourage, inspire and develop them for the corporate world they will soon face.
Following is the list of students from various prestigious schools who had the rare chance to compete for the individual category: Laila T. Amon (De La Salle University- Dasmariñas); Reginald L. Laco (De La Salle- Lipa); Leo S. Magsisi and Jan Michael P. Saniel (UP-Iloilo City); Joseph Albert J. Bulao, Rhea Jane Carpio and Ivy Kristine F. Copia ( Ateneo De Davao University); Mabel L. Buted, Jane Carol U. Chiu, Conrad Jonathan Lee and Dexter A. Yu Galan (De La Salle University- Taft); Jesus V. Capinpin, Isiah L. Sison and Michael Jan D. Tamayo (Far Eastern University- Manila); Nicanor R. Ngo and Bee Jay C. Papa (Polytechnic University of the Philippines- Sta. Mesa); Diane Jane D. Dolot, Jericho M. Jose, Cristina C. Sze and Gibson T. Tan (University of Sto. Tomas); and, Mark Noel R> Macapagat (University of the East- Manila).
Under team category, the following groups of students representing their school unleashed their collective knowledge to prove that, indeed, they are the most outstanding among all: University of San Carlos- Reynante Abadlez, Vida Luz T. Dihayco and Henson C. Mariñas; De La Salle- Lipa- Reginald L. Laco, Dexter Recio and Kathrina Carren Morfe; Ateneo De Davao University- Lindelle Paul L. Anos, Joseph Albert J. Bulao and Rhea Jane V. Carpio; DLSU Taft- Liana Katrina K. Igna, Conrad Jonathan T. Lee and Dexter A. Yu Galan; PUP Sta. Mesa- Philip A. Lim, John Paul C. Lucena, Bee Jay C. Papa; UST- Dianne Jane D. Dolot, Cristina C. Sze and Gibson T. Tan; FEU Manila- Layraline A. Quiambao, Isiah L. Sison and Michael Jan D. Tamayo.
Still, as like most contest, the search is a battle of wit, courage, presence of mind, knowledge, intelligence and, for the team category, teamwork. This year’s individual title was bagged by Bee Jay C. Papa from PUP Sta. Mesa, while DLSU- Taft won the team category.
