ABOUT THE SESSION
Ms. Nina Michells-Kim, CMA, CSCA, IMA Director of Partnerships for Japan and Korea, presented the topic Business Leadership & Ethics: Why It Matters during the 3rd Technical Session of ACPACI 37th Annual Convention.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Nina Michels-Kim is IMA’s Director of Partnerships, Japan and Korea. As part of IMA’s Asia-Pacific regional team, Nina works to create awareness of the benefits of membership in a global professional association, as well as the benefits of earning the U.S. CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification. Previously, she served as IMA’s Regional Director for Europe, where she established the Europe region for IMA.
Nina is also an entrepreneur and co-founder of Starling GmbH, a consultancy providing market research and business intelligence, based in Zurich, Switzerland. An avid writer, she has authored several articles and blogs. In addition, she has spoken at or served as facilitator, moderator and chair at conferences, events, and panel discussions.
Prior to starting her own business, Nina worked over 13 years as a finance professional in the pharmaceutical industry. She held positions at MSD Chibret AG (Merck & Co, Inc.) as Financial Planning & Analysis Manager for the Swiss and the Mid-Europe Region, and, most recently, as Financial Controller and Compliance Officer for the Swiss affiliate. Before her career at MSD, she served six years at the Basel, Switzerland headquarters of Novartis Pharma AG in several controlling roles, including Head of Finance for Pharma Global IT. After obtaining her U.S. CMA certification with MSD’s financial support in 2007, she founded the IMA Switzerland Chapter in 2009 as a volunteer. Nina also is Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis.
Nina has lived and worked in Japan, the US, and Switzerland. She holds a BA with Honors in International Relations from Pomona College in Claremont, California and an MSc in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in Washington, DC
