Going back to our core competencies, ACPACI reinforces the basic qualities of a true professional. This is exemplified by the invite of Ms. Heidi Mendoza, a former COA auditor, responsible for the whistle blowing of the celebrated Senate hearing on anomalies at the Armed Forces of the Philippines. She said whether we like it or not, we will always come into a crossroad where our values will be put to a test. The path we select should be based on what our conscience dictates. She truly inspired the accountants present to persevere, stand up for integrity and daringly fight for what is right.
Two technical sessions followed in the afternoon. The first focused on the topic Deferred Income Tax Accounting rendered by Mr. Noel P Rabaja, SGV Partner. He said that we should pay close attention to the gray areas of implementing deferred tax accounting in our respective organization. While the 2nd part of the technical session was on the latest Tax Regulation issued by the BIR: Revenue Regulations 15-2010 (BIR Notes to FS) which requires the 2010 Notes to Audited Financial Statement to include details for taxes and licenses, input and output tax recognized and availed within the reporting period. This and other Income Tax Return Reminders were presented by Atty. Eleonor L. Roque of Punongbayan and Araullo.
During the luncheon meeting, ACPACI launched the site of the Annual Convention through a video presentation. Led by the energetic Director for Membership, Ms. Cecille P. Carandang, ACPACI inducted 29 new members.
